Ryan STA

Builder/Pilot:  Mr. T. Sasaki, Fukuoka Japan

This video was taken on first flight for the Ryan, on a field recently torn up by a Taiphoon.  But it went pretty well, anyway...  The Z4045-10 motor, battery, and ESC were under stressed, based on the low temperatures after the flight.  The battery pack is the upcoming Hyperion LSVX-3700-4S, wired in series for 8S voltage.  With 20C continuous rating, it suits this models well, as average discharge during the flight was under 35 amps. The controller used is the Hyperion HP-TITAN-90HV-PO, 90A 10S max.  These will be available for purchase after November 27, 2005.   Click here, or the picture below, for video

EDGE 3D (originally designed for 4-cycle 0.53ci engine)

Builder/Pilot:  Mark Williams, Cape Town South Africa

-----Flight #1 Comments ------------

Flew my .53 size  3D edge today on the HP Z4025-12 on a PQ2500XP 5S, Hyperion TITAN 80A OPTO ESC, and APC 13 x 8 E. Drawing 36A static at around 7000rpm and 680 watts.

Plane is 2.6kg all up. Flies great, lots of vertical, and maintains knife edge at about 50%. I will run a second pack in parallel and go up on the prop to see what the motor does in second gear!!

-----Flight #2 Comments ------------
See this video clip on the Z4025-12 powered Edge. Now with 5S2P PQ2500XP and propped up to a 15 x10, 6990 rpm - 63A static - 1110watts.  Motor and cells are running cool and the Lipos are holding 3.54V at full power.

Kyosho Oxalys (originally designed for 4-cycle 0.53~0.63ci engine)

Builder/Pilot:  (submitted by Mr. S. Sasaki for his friend in Chiba Japan)

-----Flight #1 Comments ------------
Z4025-10, Titan 80A OPTO, APC 12x10E, PQ3300XP 5S
46.1A, 748W, 8370rpm

Finished AUW is about 2.5kg (vs 2.4kg with YS FZ63S four-cycle engine), is comparably powerful. It has long enough gear legs, so we will try 13 or 14 inch props next.

It is very lightly built, its pipe space is perfect for lipo and ESC to fit. Does not need to cut anything, only 30g weight at the tail to get correct CG. Motor, battery and ESC is barely warm after 7 minutes first flight.
